Thank to its location, Crotone’s climate is extremely temperate. The winters are generally mild, although sudden temporary decreases in temperature may occur in the event of polar influxes, with snowfall being quite rare.
Summers are warm and windy, thanks to the sea breeze; the maximum temperatures can climb to around 40 °C during heat waves with southerly or sirocco winds, but with low relative humidity values.
Rainfall is concentrated mainly within the autumn months, with a secondary maximum in the wintertime; droughts can be greatly accentuated during the spring and summer.
A different situation occurs in the mountains of Sila: with almost two thousand meters in height, this plateau has a mountain climate with snowfall from December to March.
Here the temperature has an average difference of -8°C compared to the coast, with winter peaks of -15°C below freezing.
